Trump’s media bias poll might be the most biased thing I’ve read in 2019

President Trump continues to fire shots at the press, claiming biased coverage, misrepresented facts, and sometimes entirely made-up stories. In what can only be described as a war on traditional media, Trump continued his assault with a poll on media bias that, ironically, might be the most biased line of questioning this reporter has ever laid eyes on. The line of questioning would also suggest that this is less a poll and more an attempt to ignite Trump’s base in a push for reelection in 2020. If you had doubts, the call to action should put your fears to rest.…

Windows 10’s search bar and Cortana split up on good terms

Since Windows 10’s inception Cortana has been directly integrated into the search bar. The idea was that it would make it easier for people to find answers in one place, whether through text search or voice queries. But now it seems the company has decided the tools are better off on their own. Microsoft has testing separating the tools for a few weeks, and is giving it a wider go-ahead with Insider Build 18317. After that, it should launch publicly with the next major update to Windows 10, which is currently scheduled for April. The company says separating the two…

Study shows Facebook users still don’t understand tracking

The Pew Research Center today released the results of its latest survey of Facebook users, this time about the ad categories they’ve been assigned by the site’s algorithms. The users’ surprising ignorance of the information Facebook accrues highlights the disconnect between the platform and its users. According to the results, several users weren’t even aware of the list of ad categories Facebook keeps on them: 74 percent said they “didn’t know the categories existed.” So just to get everyone up to speed, Facebook allows you to browse the ad categories to which it’s assigned you. You’ll be able to see…

Slack has a new logo, and, umm, you be the judge

Jan16

There comes a time in every company’s journey when it needs to find a reason to change its logo. Today, that time has come for Slack. Look, I’m normally cool with logo changes.
