GOP pushes porn as the answer to border wall funding

An Arizona Congresswoman introduced a bill to the House yesterday that, if passed, would fund President Trump‘s border wall — at least in Arizona. Introduced by Republican Rep. Gail Griffin, HB 2444 would levy a one-time $20 fee per-device on Arizonans wishing to access pornography online. In peddling porn, it would seem the “family values” party has one foot planted firmly in the evangelical church and another in the adult entertainment industry. If you couldn’t make it past the glossary of terms at the beginning of the bill (nobody wants to read Rep. Griffin’s description of a “turgid” penis, we…

Review: A Fisherman’s Tale is the best way to play with yourself in VR

Jan22

Vertigo Games today released its VR puzzler A Fisherman’s Tale, a game in which you play with yourself to solve a puppet’s problems. The general idea here is that you’ll be controlling a character inside of a building that’s controlling a character inside a building… that’s controlling a character inside a building… basically, it’s turtles all the way down. If that makes sense to you, you’re doing better than I did. I checked out the game over the weekend, but admittedly I wasn’t keen on the premise at first. It seemed like an interesting gimmick – you move and puppets…

You can now share your Netflix faves to Instagram Stories — if you have an iPhone

When streaming first took off it felt like the period of shared viewership had ended. How could anyone gather around the water cooler to discuss a show or movie when you could all be watching different things at different times? But, recently, things have changed. The success of (and the raft of discussion about) Netflix titles like ‘Bird Box’ and ‘You’ illustrates the communal viewing experience is alive and well. The difference is that the forum has changed. Rather than the aforementioned water cooler, we now discuss on social media. And Netflix is paying attention. Yes, the streaming giant today…

Microsoft doubles down on education with cheap laptops and a $40 Surface pen

Microsoft may be king when it comes to mainstream PCs, but it’s no secret Google has built a commanding lead selling devices meant for education in the US. So today at the BETT education conference, Microsoft and its partners (Dell, Acer, Lenovo) are announcing seven inexpensive laptops to tackle the onslaught of equally-cheap Chromebooks. The starting prices for the laptops range from $189 to $319, including three convertibles. The most interesting of these is probably the updated Lenovo 300e 2-in-1. Aside from its included stylus, you can actually use a regular old #2 pencil to draw on the screen as…

How to select, copy, and paste multiple snippets of text in macOS (with no third-party apps)

Jan22
by Sindy Cator on January 22, 2019 at 5:30 pm
Posted In: Around the Web, Basics

When copying and pasting text, most users grab a selection at a time, paste it into their app of choice, and then return to grab more content as needed. There’s a simpler way. Instead of grabbing your text one selection at a time, you can actually highlight, copy, and paste multiple pieces of noncontiguous content at once. Better, there’s no additional app required — all Macs can do this by default. To highlight multiple pieces of text at once, simply select your first bit of content and then smash the Command key before attempting to highlight others. You can grab…
