Quotable

"Any artistic event that is subjectively judged in part by the accompanying music and style, is not a sport. Of course in the Winter Olympics, they overlook that due to the revenues Figure Skating and Ice Dancing generate from all those bored spouses who would otherwise not watch the Games at all." ~ Yasha Harari

Anthem is going to need its version of the ‘Taken King’ expansion

We at TNW have been quiet on the subject of Anthem since its release a few weeks ago. We wanted to have some more time with the game before we gave any thoughts about it. But to be honest, the release and subsequent problems with the game have us wondering… what happened to Anthem? It’ll probably take some steep work from the developers to correct this ship — and that’s if the fans stick around. Anthem seemed, pre-release, to be as notable for what it wasn’t as much as for what it was. The game is the latest effort from the vaunted Bioware, a…

Mark Zuckerberg plans to make Facebook more private with 6 key changes

Mark Zuckerberg wants to make Facebook less like a town square, and more like a living room. So he declares in a massive blog post earlier this week, a winding read on Facebook’s potential for change and the future of the internet altogether. You can read the full 3,200-word blog post here, but we’ve broken down the key points of Zuckerberg’s plant below – as well as their potential pitfalls. The gist of it? Make Facebook more like…

Fixing the financial literacy gap will attract more women to Bitcoin

The blockchain and cryptocurrency industry is dominated by men – fact. There are many reasons as to why this could be the case – namely a pipeline problem or the rhetoric that men are typically (and allegedly!) more interested in technology – but a recent study has posed an interesting question. What if the cryptocurrency industry’s lack of diversity was down to women being less financially literate than men? Perhaps there is more to cryptocurrency’s diversity problem than women simply not being interested in the technology. The findings The study documented a significant gender gap in Bitcoin literacy in the…

Revolut launches auto-exchange for cryptocurrency – and I can’t find a reason to hate it

Online challenger bank, Revolut, has just introduced a new feature which makes it easier to protect yourself from volatile cryptocurrencies. Earlier this week, Revolut launched what it is simply calling its “auto-exchange” feature, which will allow users to automatically exchange two currency pairs – fiat and cryptocurrency – when the pair hits a specific exchange rate. It’s pretty simple to set up too. Just navigate to the “rates” page in the app, select the currency you want to convert to and from, and set the price you want to auto-exchange (sell) at. I think this could be improved, it would…
