Abra finally treats its users as adults, lets them handle Ethereum directly

Yesterday, cryptocurrency wallet and services provider, Abra, announced that users can now purchase Ethereum through its Android and iOS apps. You’d be forgiven if you thought this was already the case, but it wasn’t. Let me explain. With the new update, users can now add and withdraw actual Ethereum cryptocurrency to and from their Abra wallet. Before the update, any exposure to Ethereum on Abra was through one of its “synthetic assets,” which means you buy into the token without actually owning it. Abra also sees this addition as the first step to streamline the “process to add more ERC20…

Sex robots’ next big leap won’t come from the adult industry

Mar13

This article was originally published on SEXTECHGUIDE, an independent publication that looks at the intersection between sex and technology in a non-explicit, as close to a ‘safe for work’ way as possible – including app reviews, adult VR info, sextech devices, privacy, security issues, and much more. It was founded by ex-TNW European Editor Ben Woods, and can be found on Twitter and Facebook.   You might be seeing more and more headlines about sex robots at the moment, but the reality is that sex robot tech still has a long way to go. Technically ‘sexbots’ do not currently exist, or at least, certainly not in the way they’re frequently…

NBC’s tool will tell you if IBM’s used your photos to train its AI

Mar13

In January, IBM published a research study dubbed ‘Diversity in Faces‘ to explore whether AI-based systems developed biases against people based on their appearance. The company used a dataset consisting of nearly a million pictures of people’s faces from photo-hosting site Flickr. However, it failed to notify those Flickr users that it was using their pictures to train an AI – and you could be one of them. NBC, which broke the story, has developed a tool to check if IBM has used your Flickr photos. Here’s how it works: Open this link in your browser, and scroll down until you see the…

Mar13

Welcome to CHEAP, our brand-new series about things that are good, but most of all, cheap. CHEAP! Wow, this is one hell of a deal – you can get an Apple Watch Series 3 on Amazon for only $199. To put that in perspective, the exact same device is currently being sold on Apple’s own site for $279. Hurry, go and buy it before it’s too late… So, as much as I’ve wanted one (and I really, really wanted one), I’ve never actually owned an Apple Watch. I’ve spent a lot of time using them, borrowed friends’, and have come very close to…
