Building a thriving company is never easy, which is why it’s great for entrepreneurs to learn from those who have done it before. Hearing the success stories of leaders in our industries can be really inspiring – but tapping into the knowledge of CEOs and founders of successful companies is a tough thing to do. Unless you catch them at an event, it can be hard to work around their busy schedules. Delve deep into Bitcoin’s craziest conspiracy theories

Mar14

Bitcoin has always been shrouded in mystery, and to this day, not much is known about its origins or the identity of its creator. The uncertainty of Satoshi Nakamoto‘s identity has spawned a host of conspiracy theories, and a lack of unequivocal proof means some are plausible, while others are obviously outright ridiculous. Think about it: it’s 18 of August, 2008 and someone registers the bitcoin.org domain name. A few months later, in October, a link to a white paper authored by “Satoshi Nakamoto” and titled “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System” is posted to an obscure cryptography mailing list.…

IBM’s latest trick: Turning noisy quantum bits into machine learning magic

Mar14
by Sindy Cator on March 14, 2019 at 4:35 pm
Posted In: Around the Web, artificial intelligence, Insider

IBM‘s figured out how to ignore noisy qubits and run machine learning algorithms in quantum feature spaces. Eureka-cadabra! The age of quantum algorithms is upon us. A team of IBM researchers created a pair of quantum classification algorithms and then experimentally implemented them on a hybrid system utilizing a 2-qubit quantum computer and a classical superconductor. Basically, they demonstrated that quantum computers can provide advantages in machine learning that classical computers, alone, cannot. According to the researchers’ white paper: Here we propose and experimentally implement two quantum algorithms on a superconducting processor. A key component in both methods is the…

Security researchers found over 40 bugs in blockchain platforms in 30 days

White hat hackers have found more than 40 bugs in blockchain and cryptocurrency platforms in the past 30 days, according to an investigation by Hard Fork. There is a silver lining though: none of the vulnerabilities appear to be particularly serious at first glance. Thirteen companies dealing with cryptocurrency and blockchain tech received a total of 43 vulnerability reports in the period between February 13 and March 13, as per bug reports submitted to vulnerability disclosure platform Hacker One. Among others, the list of affected platforms includes Coinbase, EOS issuer Block.one, Tezos, Brave, and Monero. Who’s got the most blockchain kinks?…
