The Boeing 737 is the most produced commercial airplane in history: over 10,000 have been built since it first flew in 1967, with thousands more on order. Even the UK’s Royal Air Force is to put them into service as the P8a Poseidon. An airplane which flies that much will have accidents. The 737 has had over 200 that have led to the loss of the airplane, resulting in over 5,000 fatalities over its 51 years. But statistically, this nonetheless is a very safe airplane. ‘First cryptocurrency football club’ is still paying players’ salaries in fiat

Contrary to what was promised last year, semi-professional football team Gibraltar United is still not paying its players in cryptocurrency. In July 2018, The Guardian reported the Gibraltar Premier division team will be the first one to “pay players in cryptocurrency.” Club founder and majority owner, Pablo Dana, said all player contracts will include payment agreements in cryptocurrency by next season. “All players and staff will be requested to open a digital wallet and they will be able to choose to receive their salaries in fiat or QTC [Quantocoin],” a Gibraltar United spokesperson told Hard Fork in an email last…

HackerRank report shows Gen-Z women are ready for the tech workplace

HackerRank today published its 2019 Women In Tech Report, which looks at developer trends across a sample of 12,000 female developers. The report paints an encouraging picture. It highlights that women developers belonging to the so-called Generation Z group possess the skills employers desperately require. The report defines Generation Z as anyone under the age of 21. According to HackerRank, most women in this age group surveyed are proficient in at least two of the top three most desirable programming languages – namely Python and Java.
