Here’s why the Huawei P30 Pro’s camera could redefine smartphone photography

Huawei‘s P20 Pro and Matte 20 Pro had the best camera hardware of any smartphone in 2017, bar none. Sure, the Pixel 3 had my favorite camera – Google’s image processing is still the best – but Huawei managed to combine solid, versatile software with a giant camera sensor and triple lens setup that remains unmatched a year later. The P20 Pro remained at the top of DxOMark until the P30 and P30 Pro were revealed today. My point is, it would’ve been easy for Huawei to just make a minor tweak here or there and call it a day, perhaps focusing…

It’s no secret that Mozilla is trying to distinguish itself from its competitors by focusing heavily on privacy and security. The latest salvo in that effort is Firefox Lockbox for Android, which promises to securely and privately store passwords, while ensuring people remain logged in to their favorite apps and services. But does the world need another password manager? Maybe. What Firefox Lockbox does well compared to other password managers is the initial setup process, which is designed to be as painless as possible. Once you’ve installed the app, it automatically copies over your passwords from Firefox, saving you time…

Bethesda has declared its public support of Steam by promising its upcoming games will have a home there. A scant six months ago, this would have just been the end of the company’s failed attempt to launch its own platform. But in the currently contentious world of PC gaming, it’s a new salvo in the ongoing standoff between Valve’s platform and the upstart Epic Store. The company appeared to be moving towards its own platform, the Bethesda launcher. But then the calamitous Fallout 76 launch happened, and suddenly that’s not looking like such a great idea — I’m on record saying…

This app exposes which cryptocurrency a user is most likely to shill on Twitter

It’s a challenge to navigate the cryptocurrency space. The entire community pretty much resides within the confines of the Twitter hellscape, where differences in investment portfolios often lead to in-fighting and disinformation. This is why one ingenious software developer created a new browser extension to help the general public figure out exactly what’s going on. It’s called ‘Conflict of Interest.’ It’s a simple add-on that presents estimates of an author’s bias towards one of four cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, and Bitcoin Cash. The idea is that the composition of someone’s Twitter following could be an indicator of their digital currency preference.…
