One of top 200 universities in the US, along with a helping hand from IBM, is getting its students into blockchain with dedicated training. The University of Louisville announced a partnership with IBM yesterday, which will see the institution establish what it’s calling the “IBM Skills Academy.” The academy will deliver a curriculum focused on eight emerging and developing technologies including artificial intelligence, Internet-of-Things, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and of course, blockchain. Students who attend the academy will gain course credits which contribute towards graduation, and will also obtain IBM certification. The academy will also teach staff members about the emerging…

Despite damaging reports, Samsung is hell-bent on releasing its Galaxy Fold this month

Last night, major drama unfolded as several gadget reviewers who got their hands on the Samsung Galaxy Fold reported that their screens broke or began malfunctioning, because of hardware and software issues. The company later issued a statement saying that it’s investigating the issue. Welcome to TNW Basics, a collection of tips, guides, and advice on how to easily get the most out of your gadgets, apps, and other stuff. Google has updated its Play Store with a handy new feature that lets you set a monthly budget to help keep your app and digital media purchases in check. It’s not perfect; the tool only displays a notification above the ‘buy’ button to let you know you’ll cross your limit, instead of preventing your purchase entirely (or at least letting you opt for this). Still, it’s useful for folks who frequently find themselves spending away…

Welcome to the latest episode of “Facebook’s Daily Screw-up.” Following a report from Business Insider yesterday, the company confirmed it had uploaded more 1.5 million users’ contact lists without their permission when they signed up for the service starting in May 2016. According to BI, a security researcher noticed that Facebook was asking some users to enter the password for their email account when they’re making a new Facebook account. If they went ahead and entered the password, the social network displayed a message saying it was “importing your contacts,” without a way for them to opt out. Later, it…
