Rising 220x220 De La Soul makes its entire back catalog of music free to download for one day onlySeminal hip hop outfit De La Soul is making its entire back catalog available to download for free, marking the 25 year anniversary of its classic debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising.

You can garner the trio’s full arsenal of recorded music from 11am EST today (Friday, February 14) until noon EST tomorrow, directly from the official De La Soul website.

This move is notable for a number of reasons, but perhaps chiefly because the band has yet to make its full catalog of tunes available online, specifically its earlier efforts, due to the abundance of samples the band uses. But for a 25-hour period kicking off today, you can get it all.

Coinmap plots Bitcoin-friendly retails stores around the world

If you’re a stakeholder in Bitcoin, or just a curious observer like me, then you’ll be interested to learn about Coinmap.

coinmap 730x332 Coinmap plots Bitcoin friendly retails stores around the world

The project aims to map (or, at least, help map) physical retailers that accept Bitcoin and fellow virtual currency Litecoin. It uses Open Street Map data, which allows users and shop owners to easily add new venues — as is explained at the base of the map.

It’s been going a while now — it was ‘announced’ in a Bitcointalk.org forum thread last April — but the idea seems to have gathered some momentum this week. If nothing else, it is an interesting indicator of the take-up that Bitcoin enjoys worldwide.

Twitter Trends are now available in 50 new cities across Europe, Middle East and beyond

Twitter has expanded its Trends service to 50 new locations worldwide, including a number of cities across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and beyond.

Launched in 2012, Trends showcases topics and hashtags that are popular in a particular location. It is generally seen as a way to increase engagement among users, which makes today’s news noteworthy since Twitter‘s weak user growth figures underwhelmed analysts, sending its share price falling.

The full list of new locations is below:

Twitter last bumped up Trends back in April 2013, when it added 160 new places worldwide. The company says it is working to add “even more locations in the future.”
