Quotable

"The President of the United States pardoned the national turkey yesterday, in the tradition maintained on the day before the Thanksgiving holiday. Which begs the question, What exactly is the crime the turkey was convicted of, and how did he win such an invaluable favor from the White House?" ~ Laughzilla

Following the multi-year deal it signed with DreamWorks last June, Netflix is gearing up to launch three new original TV shows in late 2014. Puss in Boots and King Julien are spin-offs from Shrek and Madagascar – two of DreamWorks’ biggest hits to date – while the third is a reboot of VeggieTales, which will be called Veggie Tales in the House. Netflix has already introduced an original series based on its partnership with DreamWorks though. Turbo FAST (Fast Action Stunt Team) debuted on Netflix last Christmas, following the big budget CG animated film that was released in theatres earlier…

An emergency telephone of the German rai
Twilio.org, the nonprofit foundation of cloud telephony provider Twilio, today announced a new toolkit with a set of communication apps designed for rapid deployment during an emergency. Twilio launched its social good initiative last fall, offering organizations $500 in credits and a 25 percent discount on its products. The foundation’s goal is to send “a billion messages for good.” Meghan Murphy, Twilio’s Senior Manager of Community and Twilio.org, said in an interview that the company decided to create the rapid response kit because it had noticed that efforts to build new communication services in reaction to disasters often came too…

Could Titanfall be coming to the Mac? Developer Respawn Entertainment is currently in talks with Aspyr, a publisher that has released games such as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Bioshock Infinite and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic on the platform. Vince Zampella, co-founder of Respawn Entertainment, said on Twitter that his studio “is talking to Aspyr” and believes “they should do it.” While it’s far from a done deal, it shows the company is keen to bring its futuristic shooter to a platform that isn’t controlled by Microsoft. Titanfall will be available on PC, Xbox 360 and…

Flow
Three years ago, we said hello to Flow, calling it “…probably the most beautiful task management app yet.” And six months back, MetaLab gave Flow a massive overhaul. In a nutshell, Flow helps teams (and individuals) get things done. Which is all very well and good in itself, but when your service still lacks a native Android incarnation in 2014, it can lead to concerns from (potential?) users. “We’ve had hundreds and hundreds of requests to make an Android version from our users,” says MetaLab’s Greg Voakes. And today, Flow for Android has finally arrived. As with the iOS incarnation, Flow…
