Dana Leavy-Detrick is the chief creative scribe at Brooklyn Resume Studio. This post was originally published on the Shutterstock blog and has been republished with permission. Job seekers, freelancers, and entrepreneurs share a common need: having a well-defined digital presence that markets their unique value to the right audience. A solid brand presence should be built around a message that answers the question: “What do I want potential employers/clients to know about me, as a professional in my field?” Whether you’re actively job searching, changing careers, building your freelance client base, or simply looking to expand and maintain your network, cultivating a…

London - Old Street - Tech City
The UK and Israel have entered a pact that will see them working together on a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) around digital government, which they say will help create opportunities for future generations. In an announcement issued this afternoon by the UK Government’s Cabinet Office, Minister Francis Maude pointed to Israel’s reputation at the forefront of innovation in the digital realm as a key factor in its move to align itself with the country. “When I visited last year, I saw how Israel has a forward-thinking approach to digital innovation, just like the UK,” said Maude. “This Government’s long-term…

Flipboard for iOS now lets you share stories directly with other users

Flipboard has facilitated story sharing before, but it often felt inefficient. You can distribute a link via email, SMS or a social network, but then the recipient needs to see the link and launch Flipboard to read the article. Now, Flipboard supports direct sharing so you can send and receive stories without leaving the app. While you’re reading an interesting piece, you can hit the share button at the top of the screen and select the new Flipboard icon, represented by a red circle and white silhouette. As you type – the updated iOS app supports both usernames and email…

Jscrambler
As we’ve seen with hacking cases time and again, the Javascript in Web apps can be vulnerable to attacks that, as a developer, you want to do your best to avoid. JScrambler, a tool for making your code harder to read and manipulate, has today been updated with a self-protection feature. “It is a combination of anti-tampering and anti-debugging,” says JScrambler’s Pedro Fortuna. “The former transforms the JavaScript into a form where if someone tries to change it – which is usually the case with most attacks – even if is just a single character, the code will detect that…

Skype today released the first update for its Xbox One app, adding new features and squashing a bunch of bugs. The new version is rolling out gradually, but if you don’t see it on your console you should be able to grab it soon. First and foremost, Skype says it has improved the chat component. If you’re using Skype on your computer, phone, or tablet as well as your Xbox One, the app should now keep your conversations in sync. The Microsoft-owned company says it has reduced the number of missed messages “to make your chat experience even better.” Chat…
