It’s been a long time coming, but iSupr8, the app for creating vintage-looking videos from your smartphone from MEA Mobile, is now available for Android devices. We say it’s been a long time coming because the iOS version launched way back in 2011, before Vine even existed for your video needs and before Instagram supported videos. However, where Instagram and Vine have a limited duration (and Vine doesn’t yet have filters), iSupr8 will let you create retro classics as long as you like, plus you can do it in 1080p HD and choose from a range of film stocks that add…

You can finally play SimCity offline

It would seem the great SimCity saga is coming to a close. After the game was plagued with connectivity problems at launch, developer Maxis is today introducing one of its most requested features: Offline play. That means more than 12 months since its launch on Windows, you can start a single-player campaign and tinker with your city offline. Save files can be reloaded at any time and you won’t have to worry about your archaic metropolis being affected by neighboring players. It’s also possible to disable autosaves, if you want the ability to pick up your progress from a specific…

Security firm ESET today published a technical analysis on Linux/Ebury, an OpenSSH backdoor and credential stealer the company discovered last month. Over the last few weeks, thousands of victims have been notified that their servers were infected, and the details being released today are in an effort to raise further awareness. Dubbed Operation Windigo, the scheme runs on an infrastructure entirely hosted on compromised computers: 25,000 Linux servers in total over the last two years, with over 10,000 still infected today. The number is significant, as ESET points out, if you remember each of these systems has access to significant…

Google took a three-day trip to Hokkaido last month to capture Japan’s snow-capped and northernmost island with some beautiful, panoramic 360-degree Street View photographs. The expedition was broken down into a few different legs, which included carving a path through the icy Sea of Okhotsk, dog sledding through the tranquil snow fields and investigating Lake Shikaribetsu, which had frozen over and created a foundation for a small, man-made ice chapel. All of the photos are available right now on Google Maps Views, and have been split into collections based on the area of Hokkaido being depicted. The company has also…
