selfie2
What is the most obnoxious thing on the planet these days? If you said selfies, then you got that right. We could blame the whole selfie mess on smartphone cameras, but the phenomenon came along much later than cameras we could shoot pictures of ourselves with. There has to be another reason for this explosive burst of egotistical activity. Which begs the question: Are we now more self absorbed and narcissistic than we were in the past? Or, is it really as simple as we do it because we can—understanding that just because you can do something doesn’t mean you…

Twitter is discarding its #Music iOS app as a failed experiment after spending nearly a year trying to gain traction for it. The company revealed on Friday that it will remove the offering from the App Store today and deactivate the app for existing users on April 18. The company did note, however that it will “continue to experiment with new ways to bring you great content based on the music activity we see every day on Twitter.” Last month, Twitter announced a new partnership with music industry firm 300 Entertainment to share up its music data and analytics. At…

Almost a month ago, messaging service Telegram exploded in popularity, climbing to the top of the App Store in nearly 50 countries worldwide. WhatsApp’s temporary outage and security concerns were the perfect backdrop for Telegram to promote its privacy-focused apps. Today, Telegram updated its mobile apps with a couple of new features; one you would expect from prolific messaging services such as LINE, WhatsApp and KakaoTalk, and one you probably wouldn’t. The former is voice notes, which gives its ballooning user base the ability to send audio recordings to one another. It’s depicted with a microphone to the right of…
