Junior developers stuck on a coding problem for hours will probably breathe a huge sigh of relief to hear they can get help instantly from experts with the click of a button — as that’s what Codementor is setting out to do. Codementor is a Techstars-backed startup based in Taiwan and San Francisco aimed at helping developers in distress. All developers need to do is post a request for help on one of more than 30 technical topics including Ruby, Python, PHP, JavaScript, CSS/HTML, iOS and Android among others, then connect with an expert via screen sharing, video and text chat. If the…

Update: Google has now officially announced Photowall for Chromecast, and has confirmed that the associated app will be available for Android too. We’ll link to that here once it’s live. Less than a week after Google finally launched its Chromecast streaming dongle outside the US, landing in 11 more countries, the Internet giant has unveiled a brand new standalone app that lets you create a collaborative photo montage on your TV. According to its description in the App Store, Photowall for Chromecast does exactly as it says in its name, though oddly the so-called ‘Chrome Experiment’ seems to be an…

According to its description in the App Store, Photowall for Chromecast does exactly as it says in its name, though oddly the so-called ‘Chrome Experiment’ seems to be an iOS-only affair for now. That said, we expect an Android version will be arriving shortly too, as the existing iOS app doesn’t seem to be fully operational yet. When connecting…

Spotify today announced it would no longer be accepting new app submissions for the desktop versions of its music streaming service. For now, software that is already available through the App Finder will not be affected, although Spotify said it will only be processing “critical updates” for third-party apps moving forward. For music enthusiasts, the app ecosystem was one of the biggest advantages for using the Spotify desktop client over the Web player. Apps such as Soundrop, Last.fm, Pitchfork and Supper have broadened its feature set and helped listeners discover new music and expand their experiences on Spotify. In a…

Square now offers its point-of-sale card payments service and e-commerce platform in Spanish

Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, so it should come as no surprise that Square wants to attract native speakers to its mobile point-of-sale card reader service. Starting today, Square Register – the iPhone, iPad and Android app that businesses can use to accept card payments in-store, is now available in Spanish. The web-based dashboard, which shows recent payments, reports for staff and transactions, and the option to customize loyalty programs, has also been updated with the new language option. Outside of bricks-and-mortar businesses, Square also supports Spanish throughout Square Market now – a platform that…
