FRANCE-INTERNET-WAZE
Google completed its acquisition of Waze last June, but only now has the price tag that it paid for the Israel-headquartered social mapping startup and a hint at why the company sold out been revealed. A blog post on LinkedIn from Noam Bardin, who is CEO and co-founder of Waze, confirms that Google agreed to a $1.15 billion deal to buy the company. That’s notable since it is the first time that a member of either company has confirmed a figure — media estimates had varied from $1.1 billion to $1.3 billion — although it isn’t clear how that broke down over…

This post originally appeared on the Buffer blog. Every so often when I’m tweeting or emailing, I’ll think: Should I really be writing so much? I tend to get carried away. And for the times that I do, it sure would be nice to know if all this extra typing is hurting or helping my cause. I want to stand out on social media, but I want to do it in the right way. Curious, I dug around and found some answers for the ideal lengths of tweets and titles and everything in between. Many of these could have been answered with…

Why the best entrepreneurs and creators are humble

helping climb
Herbert Lui is the Creative Director of marketing agency Wonder Shuttle. He is the author of a guide to building credibility online. This post originally appeared on the Busy Building Things blog. In an age where social media runs rampant with humblebrags and constant barking, humility grows scarcer every day. While this trend may not appear to have any face value, it holds significant implications for your personal achievements, your team building and relationships, and a more realistic projection of the future. Embracing humility, and being humble, doesn’t mean never talking about your achievements and accomplishments. As 19th century author and preacher Charles Spurgeon…
