Plex, one of the best apps for media consumption on a large screen is coming to the Xbox One, after Microsoft announced support for universal applications at BUILD earlier this week. A user on the Plex forums under the name of ‘Tyson’ confirmed the news, saying that “Microsoft has approved the development of a Plex Client for Xbox One” and that the team “have been granted membership into ID@Xbox specifically for the development and eventual release of Plex for Xbox One.” The ID@Xbox program stands for “Independent Developers @ Xbox” and allows third party developers to build for the Xbox…

Google is reportedly about to launch a renewed effort to become your TV hub with a new platform destined for set-top boxes called “Android TV.” Documents obtained by The Verge purportedly show a new interface that not only encourages streaming content providers to build their own apps for the new platform, but also to provide that content via the Play Store for rental or purchase. Microsoft made a slew of announcements at its annual Build conference this week, covering everything from universal Windows apps to the ‘Internet of Things’. But the event was also used by Nokia, ahead of the expected closure of that $7 billion acquisition by Microsoft later this month, to unveil three new smartphones. These were the high-end Lumia 930, built for the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1 and featuring a a 5-inch display, wireless charging and a 20MP camera.
