Social sharing service Buffer has overhauled its iPhone app for iOS 7 to bring a range of new features and a redesigned social composer window, designed to give a roomier layout and better access to posting options. In addition to a fresh lick of paint, the full-screen composer window now allows you to see options for posting to different accounts, attaching photos, and customizing the publish time without having to navigate away from writing your message. Buffer for iOS now offers support for posting to Facebook Groups (as well as Profiles and Pages, as it did previously) and brings a new…

We’re no strangers to Tripomatic’s travel planning app for the iPhone and Android, but now the company has a version compatible with iPads too. While nearly all features remain the same for the larger-screen version, there is a specially made map designed for planning city walks. The company has been working hard recently to refresh its offering of Web, iOS and Android apps, the latter of which received a full overhaul just last month. ➤ Tripomatic [App Store] Featured Image Credit – Shutterstock

Nokia has added another budget device to its lineup — the Nokia 225, what it calls its slimmest Internet phone to date. The phone features a 2.8-inch display and is preloaded with Nokia’s cloud-powered Xpress Browser, which helps to optimize website data and speed up performance even over slower networks. Facebook and Twitter apps are also available directly on the homescreen, while there are five pre-loaded games: Block Breaker 3, Asphalt 6, Assassins Creed 3, The Avengers and Real Football 2012. The Nokia 225 comes in both single and dual SIM variants, and Nokia claims it has a standby time of up to 36…

Yelp stepped into Asia when it launched in Singapore back in September 2012 and now, nearly a year and a half later, it is finally expanding its presence in the continent after going live in Japan. The move — first reported by Tech In Asia — takes Yelp to 26 countries worldwide. Perhaps most importantly however, it puts the company in one of the world’s most advanced mobile markets, since Japan overtook the US on global mobile app spending last year. Yelp says it will initially focus its efforts on Tokyo and Osaka, and grow outwards from there. As part…

Popular Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi inspires the fierce loyalty of many fans — to call it a ‘cult of Xiaomi’ isn’t really that far-fetched when you witness the massive turnout of fans at their events, some of whom travel all the way from other parts of China into Beijing where Xiaomi’s events are typically held. Xiaomi fans are called ‘Mi Fen’ (米粉 in Chinese). The level of passion in these people is amazing. When I attended Xiaomi’s launch event for its Mi-3 Android phone and a 3D smart TV last year, security guards had to come out in full force for crowd control. It was pretty…
