Google releases Dart SDK 1.3, promises 2x performance improvement for asynchronous code

Google today released Dart SDK version 1.3 with 2x performance improvement for asynchronous Dart code combined with server-side I/O operations. You can download the latest stable release of Dart, the company’s JavaScript competitor, now from dartlang.org. Google explains its results come from measuring request-per-second improvements using three simple HTTP benchmarks: Hello, File, and JSON, which improved 130 percent, 30 percent, and almost 100 percent, respectively. Hello provides a measure for how many basic connections an HTTP server can handle, File simulates the server accessing and serving static content, and the JSON benchmark offers a proxy for performance of REST apps….

OneNote for Android gets OneDrive notebook and section management

Microsoft today updated its OneNote for Android app with support for managing OneDrive notebooks and sections, as well as bug fixes when pasting from the clipboard as and better content rendering on some devices. You can download the new version now directly from Google Play. Creating a new notebook on OneDrive is straightforward: on the Notebooks list, tap the overflow menu in the top right corner, hit Create Notebook, and type in your new notebook name. IDrive rolls out a mobile backup service for Android, offering 100GB of storage for $1 per year

Cloud storage provider IDrive released today its first mobile-only backup plan. For $0.99 a year, users of the company’s Android app will receive 50GB to back up their their SD card, contacts, videos, photos and apps and 50GB of file-syncing. While the new plan is limited only to Android, it does include cross-platform support, so you can carry over data from an iOS device on one of IDrive’s existing regular plans. ➤ IDrive for Android
