feat
When a crowdfunding campaign not only meets its funding goal but smashes it to smithereens, you know the idea has struck a chord with consumers. With $336,018 raised of its initial $35,000 goal, it’s clear that the Thermodo has resonated with many across the Web. And one year after we first reported on the thermometer accessory for smartphones, here’s the lowdown on the nifty little contraption that’s shipping now. Thermodo: A thermometer for your smartphone The Thermodo is the handiwork of Robocat, the very same Danish software developer behind popular weather apps Thermo and Haze. So its latest move into…

AUSTRIA-THEME-SYMBOLS
The European Commission (EC) has announced today that around two-thirds of the travel booking websites it checked in 2013 did not comply with European consumer law; a potentially worrying situation with consumers booking more travel online than ever before. During the year, it carried out ‘sweeps’ on 552 websites, and found that 382 of those “did not respect consumer law” based on a number of factors, such as whether information on the key characteristics of the service was easily accessible; whether the price was indicated at an early stage and inclusive of optional supplements; whether the websites provided email addresses for submitting…

Beamly
The ‘second screen’ social TV app market was full of promise a couple of years ago, but previously hot contenders have struggled and folded, or – as with GetGlue and i.TV, merged and relaunched. Update: Windows Phone 8.1 is being rolled out now for registered developers, though of course anyone can install the update by signing up for a developer account and launching a new project. While we knew it was coming, it looks like Microsoft is officially unveiling the final Windows Phone 8.1 build today. Today’s date has been previously mooted, and now an excerpt of a scheduled announcement is showing up on the Windows blog, though the actual blog post itself isn’t live yet. As expected, the update will only be made available to those using the Windows Phone Preview for Developers…
