Twitter tests ‘Significant engagement’ notifications in its iOS app

Twitter Goes Public On The New York Stock Exchange
Twitter is testing a new feature called “Significant engagement” in its iOS app. The company describes these achievements as “Important or higher than usual engagement with your account or Tweets.” Not all iOS users have the new option in their Twitter settings, which explains why it’s not mentioned in the changelog on Apple’s App Store. Two staff members at TNW do, however, have the new option: The feature is on by default for these two individuals, but as you can see above, it can also be turned off. MAG Interactive wins TNW Europe 2014’s Tech5 startup competition

After whittling down the field from hundreds of companies, Swedish gaming startup MAG Interactive has just taken the jury award at TNW Europe 2014’s Tech5 competition. MAG Interactive has been developing iOS apps for clients since the App Store opened, but the firm set out on its own with the release of Ruzzle in 2012. Since then, the game has amassed over 50 million downloads. The firm has 30 employees, which it divides into dedicated teams for its titles. In 2014, MAG Interactive plans to release two new titles. Labster wins Sanoma’s Startup Challenge 2014 at TNW Europe

Labster, an educational startup company specializing in laboratory experiment simulations, has won a cash award of 25,000 Euros as part of a competition sponsored by Sanoma Ventures. The prize was announced today at our TNW Europe 2014 conference in Amsterdam. Sanoma invited European digital learning startups to participate in the Sanoma Startup Challenge 2014, its initiative to support the future of primary and secondary education. Labster was one of five finalists, which included Wewanttoknow’s DragonBox, a multi-platform math game; Jumpido, a Microsoft Kinect-based math game; EduKey’s Class Charts, a data-based behavioral seating chart app; and Eduvee, a resource for targeted science instruction. An adjective rather frequently used to describe HTC over the past couple of years has been “struggling.” It has been a rough ride for the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer. Despite its former flagship HTC One (M7) winning multiple awards and being professionally recognized by the industry — it was even crowned as the best smartphone at Mobile World Congress — that hasn’t translated into sales.
