Ghost pitched its open-source blogging platform on Kickstarter exactly one year ago and today, company founder John O’Nolan has detailed what’s next in the pipeline. In a blog post, he said the non-profit would be adding support for multiple users, third-party extensions and integrations. The team will also be adding a one-click upgrade system for its premium Ghost(Pro) service, as well as a simpler import process from other blog platforms. Over the next 12 months, Ghost will receive a new dashboard for accessing analytics and other administrative tools, as well as a new API which “massively opens up the potential…

Mozilla today officially launched Firefox 29 for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android. This is a massive release: Firefox Sync has been revamped and is now powered by Firefox Accounts, there’s a new customization mode, and the company’s major user interface overhaul Australis has finally arrived. Firefox 29 has been released over on Firefox.com and all existing users should be able to upgrade to it automatically. As always, the Android version is trickling out slowly on Google Play. Jonathan Nightingale, Mozilla’s Vice President of Firefox, told TNW that users found Sync really difficult to set up. Mozilla has also made it…

Finally! Clear brings reminders to its simple to-do list app

Realmac Software has finally updated Clear, its gesture-based task management app for iOS and Mac, with support for reminders. Similar to other to-do list services, Clear now lets you set a custom time and date to keep you notified when an important deadline is approaching. The feature is free on both platforms, although there are two optional sound packs that’ll set you back an extra $0.99 each on iOS. They’re called sci-fi and 8-bit, and mark Realmac Software’s first foray into in-app transactions. Both packs are available for free on desktop, however. Clear has a beautiful design and its reliance…

AppyParking’s awesome parking app for London drivers is now available on Android

Posted In: Apps, Around the Web, Insider

Back in January we wrote that AppyParking could be the ultimate parking iPhone app for London drivers. And the good news this week is that it’s now available on Android too. AppyParking saves you from having to search the streets for paid-for (or free) parking, and covers resident parking bays, pay-and-displays, single-yellow lines, disabled parking, motorcycle and electric charging bays, car parks, and even petrol stations and prices. In addition to this, it also guides you to your (parking) destination, reminds you where you parked your car, and lets you have a nosy around the area through Street View.    …

Where to Find Data

Apr29
by Sindy Cator on April 29, 2014 at 11:30 am
Posted In: Around the Web, Data Analysis

Of course I use my sample data generator when I need some sample data. But sometimes I want some real data. I looked high and low for data sources to include in the upcoming 101 Ready to Use Excel Formulas book that Mike and I are writing. If you like data as much as I do, there might be a few sources you haven’t found on my pinboard page.

https://pinboard.in/u:dkusleika/t:data/

If you have a good one that’s not on that page, leave it in the comments.
