Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced today at its F8 developer conference that users can now use its platform to login to third-party apps anonymously and also toggle granular individual permissions. When using Facebook Login, you’ll be able to go through permissions line-by-line to choose which ones you want to enable. The company is also tightening up functionality that used to let you share your friends’ data. Individual users will now have to elect to share their data to an app. During his keynote, Zuckerberg revealed that Facebook has changed its motto from “Move fast and break things” to “Move fast with stable infrastructure.”…

At the F8 conference in San Francisco today, Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a two-year stability guarantee for all of the company’s core APIs and platforms. In fact, every API launched by Facebook will now be versioned, and developers will be able to choose which version to build on. In other words, Facebook will now give developers plenty of notice before breaking the functionality of their apps. At the same time, Zuckerberg committed that his company will fix all major bugs within 48 hours as part of a new service level agreement (SLA). He noted that Facebook usually…

Motorola will launch its next smartphone at a press conference on May 13 in London. The company, which Google sold to Lenovo for $2.91 billion, started issuing invites for the event today. The invite includes a fairly generic photo of a crowded street, with a cryptic line underneath: “Connect more people to the world’s information and each other, and they can do great things.” Motorola also said the device will be “made to last” and “priced for all”, suggesting  it won’t be a Moto X replacement. Motorola is rumored to be working on another low-to-mid-range smartphone called the Moto E, which would either replace…

Microsoft today updated Bing Smart Search in Windows 8.1 with a series of improvements that allow you to find what you’re looking for and take action even faster: natural language understanding, fixes for common spelling mistakes, and the ability to showcase more apps. These updates are rolling out “this week” – make sure you run Windows Update if you don’t see them yet. The biggest is naturally the first one: you can now ask questions like “how do I take a screenshot?” or “how do set-up a printer?” – Microsoft says it is adding results based on the most common…
