Google Announces Quarterly Earnings
As we wrote last month, Google is building a favoriting service called Google Stars that will let users save, share, and organize Web content. The company is testing a wide array of features for Stars, as depicted in a video and screenshots leaked out today (previous leaks only included marketing images and mockups). Jury finalizes $119.6 million damages award to Apple for Samsung patent infringement

Following an initial ruling in the Apple vs. Samsung patent lawsuit, the federal jury has finished its calculations and finalized its $119.6 million damages figure after finding Samsung guilty of infringement. The judgment comes as a mixed result for Apple, which had originally asked for $2.2 billion in damages. Samsung also had a minor win against Apple on a “camera and folder organization” patent, but it received a paltry $158,000 in damages. China’s largest Internet firm Tencent wears many hats — other than owning social network QQ and popular messaging service WeChat, it also publishes games and dabbles in e-commerce. At GMIC Beijing today, Tencent’s chief operating officer Mark Ren shed some light on the general focus of the company: it’s essentially a ‘connected company’ that links together not only people, but also people to services and products.
