Microsoft today released PC drivers for the Xbox One controller, allowing Windows gamers to use the device to play games on their computer. You can download them now directly from Major Nelson: Windows 32-bit and Windows 64-bit. Microsoft says it plans to release the drivers as part of a Windows update, but wouldn’t share a specific timeframe beyond “in the near future.” Today, the company is giving PC gamers early access to test them out. The drivers enable the Xbox One controller to be used with any game that has gamepad support for the Xbox 360 controller. After you install…

Virtual reality headsets are super cool, but they need new types of input methods to go with them to make their experiences truly immersive. Later today, Control VR will bring its motion capture technology out of stealth with the launch of a Kickstarter campaign for a sensor-laden glove that tracks your hand movements down to the finger. Backers who contribute $350 or more can get an early version of the Control VR hardware, along with SDK access and tutorials. In a statement, Medal of Honor and Battlefield Producer Greg Goodrich called Control VR “the most significant development in virtual reality since Oculus.” The…

Samsung and Barnes & Noble are joining forces to build co-branded tablets. That’s right, the result of this partnership will mean you’ll be able to buy a co-branded Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook tablet, meshing Samsung’s hardware with customized Nook software. This means you’ll get a reading-focused Android tablet that directs you to Barnes & Noble’s arsenal of three million digital books, magazines and newspapers. Last June, we reported that Barnes & Noble was ceasing to make its own Nook tablets, moving to a partner-centric model instead. Though that hasn’t stopped its competitors from launching their own tablets designed for…

Square wants to further embed itself in your business. The payment company is adding free invoicing to its register service. Square Invoices ties directly to the Square account of a business. Sellers can send unlimited invoices to suppliers without a monthly fee. But, like the register service, Square will levy a 2.75% transaction fee on all transactions. The company hopes that invoicing through its system will reduce taking payments over the phone and make keeping track of invoices easier for small businesses because it’s tied to the same system used to collect sales. This continues Square’s path towards becoming a one-stop shop…

Twitter has acquired a number of startups recently, and the latest is a native mobile ad specialist called Namo Media. The startup helps developers run native in-stream ads in the midst of their app, creating revenue opportunities and an experience that wasn’t off-putting to new and existing users. Namo Media offers “adaptive templates” which are essentially modules that developers could customise to their liking. The closer the ad looks to the rest of the app, the higher the probability that a user will actually stop and engage. If that in turn generates more ‘taps’ from users, advertisers and ad networks…
