Microsoft has announced that the June for Xbox One and Xbox 360 users will start rolling out globally this week. This will bring features to Xbox One that include external storage to Xbox One, deeper integration with SmartGlass, and the ability to use real names on Xbox Live. The external storage feature means that players will be able to connect two external hard drives to their system, increasing the console’s capacity to store video games, media and apps — which could come in useful when playing content at another person’s house. Microsoft today launched its Games with Gold promotion for the Xbox One, offering Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Assault for free to Xbox Live Gold members. Deals with Gold is also live with a 50 percent discount for Crimson Dragon. Games with Gold on Xbox One has a big difference from the Xbox 360 version, though. If you let your Xbox Live membership lapse on Xbox One, you’ll lose access to the free games until you sign back up. Motorola today announced it is rolling out Android 4.4.3, which was just released by Google, to the Moto X, Moto G, and Moto E this week. Google begins detailing email encryption rates in its Transparency Report

Google revealed today that it has added a new Safer Email section to its Transparency Report in order to document the percentage of outbound and incoming Gmail messages that are encrypted. According to the company, 65 percent of Gmail messages sent to other email providers over the past 30 days were encrypted during transit. Meanwhile, 50 percent of messages from other providers sent to Gmail accounts employed Transport Layer Security (TLS). The report also highlighted the top domains sending to and receiving from Gmail and their respective encryption rates. Amazon’s marketing email service is the top inbound domain, while AOL.com…

Google launches Chrome extension End-to-End for sending and receiving encrypted emails in the browser

Google today launched a new Chrome extension called End-to-End for sending and receiving emails securely. As its name implies, the security tool provides end-to-end encryption: data leaving your browser will be encrypted until the message’s intended recipient decrypts it, and encrypted messages sent to you will remain that way until you decrypt them in your browser. It’s worth noting that anyone can use End-to-End to send and receive end-to-end encrypted emails through their existing Web-based email provider. You don’t have to be using Gmail, but you will need Chrome. Tools like this already exist, but Google points out they are…
