A quadcopter (also known as a quadrotor helicopter or quadrotor) is a helicopter propelled by four rotors. Chocolate is a (typically) sweet food made of cacao seeds. Put the two together, and you’ve got a chocolate quadcopter: Yes, it can fly. Yes, you can eat it when you’re done. What more do you want? Have you ever wished you could just get rid of the annoying popup message on a site that is blocking the actual content? BehindTheOverlay is a Chrome extension that does exactly that. You can grab it directly from the Chrome Web Store. If you’ve ever been bothered by a website that hides its content while trying to get you to register, fill out a survey, or some other nonsense, I highly recommend giving BehindTheOverlay a shot. Some sites may let you close the overlay popup, others force you to wait, but most simply don’t let you proceed. With BehindTheOverlay, you…

This guy built a 3D printer for under €100

Many believe a 3D printer will be in everyone’s home one day. If you’re okay with building one yourself, you can join the revolution today, and it won’t even cost you that much. Instructables member Gelstronic decided to build a 3D printer for less than €100 (about $136). He had to buy a few parts, but most of them are from old PCs. Here is the result: Since the 3D printer is limited by the length of DVD trays, the build area is quite small (40x40x40 mm), but nevertheless the goal has been achieved. Since all the parts are available…

Tired of the same old animated GIFs and looping videos circa 1995? Now you can put some punch into that action. Klear, an online app released today, lets you re-animate your animations with grungy, glitchy, eyeball-burning effects that make them more artistic and unique — or maybe more annoying. Klear is the product of a collaboration between Los Angeles artist Vince McKelvie, rapper Yung Jake, and a bunch of their artist pals, according to The Creators Project blog. It’s based on the traditional color/chroma key concept that lets photographers and videographers separate objects and people in the foreground from the background, for various artistic purposes, including compositing. The…

At The Pool is pivoting away from its “anti-Facebook” social discovery platform with the upcoming launch of Yeti, a mobile app intended to drive local-focused conversations. When At The Pool launched a year and a half ago, the LA-based startup focused on helping connect users offline through its website and then mobile app, which arrived last November. “After 3 million introductions and growth into more than 100 countries, we realized social discovery doesn’t work,” founder Alex Capecelatro said. Over time, At The Pool realized that members were using the app to have conversations and post questions more than they were meeting…
