SWEDEN-FACEBOOK-DATA-CENTER-SERVERS
Earlier today, Facebook revealed that ads served on mobile devices will include links to a Facebook Page, social context and sharing options from August 6. This move essentially brings its mobile apps in line with those on the desktop version of Facebook. Now, however, Facebook has revealed another interesting tidbit around its advertising plans. While it currently primarily garners data from your main Facebook-browsing activity to serve you ads, it will soon start using more information from third-party websites and apps too, though only in the US at first. The company is quick on the defensive already too, adding that:…

Epic: Rovio launches its Angry Birds role-playing game globally

Back in March, Rovio launched the next installment in its ridiculously popular Angry Birds franchise: A role-playing game (RPG) called Angry Birds Epic. However, the soft-launch meant that the app was only available in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. But now, it’s available globally. While it has been iOS-only so far, it’s expected to launch on Android later today too, and we’ll update here with the link as soon as it’s available. Given that this is an RPG, it’s less about hurling birds through the air and more about narrative. Indeed, combat is turn-based, while there’s also a “challenging end-game.”…

Totally failing London: A cabbie explains how Uber is the least of their worries

Uber may have pulled off a small PR masterstroke yesterday, as it launched its UberTaxi service for London cabbies … just as London cabbies were protesting in the UK capital. But much of the discussion and reporting has focused on this easy-to-parse headline: London taxis vs. Uber. However, London cabbie and blogger Richard Cudlip is adamant that it’s not an anti-Uber protest. He says in a blog post today: “…yesterday ABSOLUTELY WAS NOT ABOUT UBER, because in the grand scheme of things Uber are possibly the least of our worries.” Regardless of what your current position on the whole debacle is,…

LG has confirmed that the first of its new range of G Pad tablets will go on sale in Europe starting this week. Initially, the 7-inch model will be the only one available to buy this week, but the South Korean device manufacturer said the 8-inch and 10.1-inch version will be following along “over the next several weeks”. Announced in May, the trio of tablets share some common features, like the inclusion of Knock Code, Smart Keyboard and a simplified LG-tweaked UI, but there are slight differences in hardware. The 7-inch model will come with a 1280 x 800 pixels display, 1.2GHz quad…
