Swipe
Swipe, a platform for creating and sharing presentations, has added new features like the option to add polls to presentations and a counter for measuring how many people are viewing at any given time. Some 14 months after the platform first launched in beta, the new poll feature is aiming to make presentations more interactive, while an in-app Markdown Editor lets users quickly change content without having to edit slides separately. As Swipe is a tool for live presentations, as well as shared ones, perhaps one of the most interesting additions is viewer analytics, which the company said should help users work out which parts of a presentation…

From Google Maps to Scout, the App Store is already awash with ways of getting you from A to B and beyond. With Passenger, things follow a similar, familiar path, insofar as you plot your journey from start to finish, but this is more about checking-in, sharing information with friends, and viewing your travel stats over time. Here’s how it works. You enter your starting point (i.e. where you currently are) and end point. Passenger gives you a list of routes, you select which one to check-in on, and you’re good to go.     Passenger is a “travel-sharing app”, however,…

Skype has released a new version of its app for Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices which increases language support, provides an option to allow editing of your last sent message and, where applicable, provides integration with Microsoft’s Cortana virtual assistant. Unsurprisingly, the Cortana integration will only work on Windows Phone 8.1 handsets, but provided your device fulfils this criteria and you’re based in the US, you can now initiate a Skype video or audio call with your voice alone. Skype said users on Windows Phone 8.1 will also now see Skype notifications in the Action Centre along…

Thailand Coup D'etat As Military Seize Control
Microstock photography service Fotolia has released Fotolia Instant for Android to let you monetize the photos you take on your smartphone. Let’s be honest, sometimes you take a sweet photo with your phone and you think, “I could totally sell this.” Fotolia agrees, and that’s why it created its Instant collection last year with the release of an iOS app. Since then, Fotolia claims to have sold over 50,000 smartphone images. Fotolia CEO Oleg Tscheltzoff said in a statement that Instant started off as an “experiment,” but the initiative has far exceeded expectations. Using Fotolia Instant is straight-forward. You’ll upload…

The handiwork of Deezer co-founder Jonathan Benassaya, StreamNation launched to the world in July last year, serving as a platform that lets you stream and share videos and photos directly from the cloud. Back in November, StreamNation made an interesting move by letting its users upload their own DRM-free (ripped, basically) movies and TV shows to their account, and then lend them to friends and family. Now StreamNation has launched a new standalone companion camera app for iPhone called Shutter, delivering infinite, unlimited media storage by automatically storing photos and videos to StreamNation’s cloud-based servers. Oh, and this is completely…
