John Joseph is the president and co-founder of DataGravity. Technological advances have expanded work environments far beyond the confines of our office walls and into our personal lives. We now see people working in trains and planes and on their mobile phones and tablets. The truth is that with the mobile technology available to us today, office boundaries don’t really exist. But a few questions remain: is the traditional office still the only place real work gets done? How do we even define work? And with work ingraining itself into our personal lives, can we ever truly unplug? There is an…

cash money dollars
Crowdfunding platform Indiegogo has today announced the launch of its first native mobile app for iOS devices, but it’s currently only available for users in Canada. As you might expect, the app allows users to keep track of campaigns they’re watching or have backed (as well as the share them with friends via social media) but it also allows campaign owners to manage their projects too. For example, creators can receive notifications when a contribution is made, monitor comments, post updates and photos, and thank contributors. Although a global crowdfunding platform launching its first app only in Canada might seem…

Doug Levy is a staff copywriter and editor for the Shutterstock blog. This post was originally published on the Shutterstock blog and has been reprinted with permission. OK Go band members are masters of the viral music video. Since releasing a clip for their 2005 second-album single A Million Ways, which featured them doing a wonderfully choreographed, synchronized dance in a single take, they’ve been consistently one-upping themselves by creating more and more elaborate concepts for their videos. Things really blew up with the release of the now-legendary “treadmill” video for Here It Goes Again—another single off of 2005′s Oh No—and since then, the band has continued…

Child using tablet
If you are getting frustrated over your children burying their noses in their mobile devices, a new Android app is out to place control back in the hands of parents instead. TimeAway first requires you to key in a five-digit password and state if you are signing up as a parent or a kid. Subsequently, the app will be uninstallable for any user without that password. And what does TimeAway do? Essentially, it allows you to monitor and control your kids’ use of mobile devices and app downloads. All you have to do is download the app on your child’s device, after…

CitizenME
As we sign up for more and more online services, it can be hard to keep track of exactly what rights we’re giving up to whom, and the feeling that we’re out of control of our own online identity can start to creep in. CitizenMe is a startup hoping to change that; first with a simple app and later with a grand plan for what could be described as a ‘marketplace for your identity’. The CitizenMe iOS app has launched today with two main functions. The first is to keep track of the Terms of Service of popular apps installed on…
