Json SurfrApp is the founder of IWearYourShirt.com. His new book, Creativity For Sale, is an in-depth look at how to turn passion into profit. Having more positivity in your life tends to lead to happiness, success and an overall feeling of calm. However, positivity can be an elusive animal to catch. There are probably a million books written on positivity. In fact, Google says there are 5,900,000 results for the search “Positivity Books.” That’s a ton of information to comb through. The task of sorting through all that information to find positivity wouldn’t be very positive. I feel I’ve figured out a way to…

Google appoints former Ford CEO Alan Mulally to its board of directors

Google announced today that former Ford President and CEO Alan Mulally has joined its board of directors. Mulally’s appointment officially began on July 9. He will serve on the company’s audit committee. Mulally led Ford from 2006 to 2014. Prior to Ford, he served as a top executive at Boeing. While the executive’s aviation and automobile experience might seem like an odd fit for a tech company, Google’s self-driving car and drone projects could benefit from Mulally’s expertise. Interestingly, Mulally was believed to be in the running for the Microsoft CEO slot vacated by Steve Ballmer, though he denied the rumor. ➤ Google Appoints Alan Mulally…

They will also give you personalized ongoing feedback and guidance. The full course materials (videos, quizzes, and forums) are available…

After an “overwhelming surge” of last-minute public comments on net neutrality came into the FCC, the agency has extended its period for accepting comments until midnight Eastern on Friday, July 18. The deadline originally ended later today. Update: An earlier version of this article misstated the deadline as June 18. We apologize for the mistake. If the FCC website isn’t working for you, there’s also the option of emailing comments to openinternet@fcc.gov before Friday. Late last week, FCC Commissioner Tom Wheeler revealed that the agency had received over 647,000 comments about net neutrality. The FCC first unveiled its proposed rule changes in May, allowing…

The science of collaboration: How to optimize working together

This post originally appeared on the Crew blog. Andrea wrote a great post about working remotely recently. There’s something implicit in her post that I’ve noticed in my own work: even when you’re working in a mostly “solo” position (e.g. as a writer), being part of a team means your job will always entail some degree of collaboration. Whether you work remotely or in an office, no doubt you collaborate in various ways every day. From asking your colleagues for feedback to brainstorming a new project together, collaboration is something we often do without even thinking about how it works. How we learn…
