ZenPayroll now lets employers add a personal touch to payslips

ZenPayroll has launched a new feature today that allows employers to add a personal note of thanks to employees’ payslips. The ‘Personal Note’ option is aiming to remove the purely transactional nature of payday in a bid to improve employer-employee relations. Or at least that’s the theory. Employers can use it for things like thanking someone for doing a particularly good job on a project, putting in extra hours or celebrating a birthday. It can also be used to give a spot bonus for putting in a good performance. While a note appended to your payslip might not be the most important make-or-break factor in your…

Chinese e-commerce firm JD.com relaunches eBay-like Paipai to take on Alibaba

JINGDONG LOGO
Chinese online retailer JD.com took over internet giant Tencent’s e-commerce operations back in March, and now it has relaunched the latter’s Paipai eBay-like consumer-to-consumer marketplace, taking its battle with Alibaba up a notch. The newly-refurbished platform has more emphasis on search relevance rather than advertising, boasts reduced marketing costs for sellers and lets users complete orders through JD’s nationwide fulfillment network — which means access to same-day and next-day delivery. The search function is particularly important as it helps to keep users on the platform. JD is using a new algorithm on Paipai that prioritizes sellers based on factors such…

Microsoft follows Google and begins accepting ‘right to be forgotten’ requests for Bing

AUSTRIA-THEME-SYMBOLS
Following Google’s rocky adoption, Microsoft is now accepting requests from European citizens to hide certain pages in Bing search results. The option has been introduced following the ‘right to be forgotten‘ ruling made by the European Union Court of Justice back in May. Bing won’t accept any old request blindly, however. The form posted online requires a whole host of personal information, including your name, country of residence – documentation proving these to be true – and an email address. To evaluate your request against the right to privacy and the public’s right to free expression, Bing is also asking whether…

Viral image sharing site Imgur today rolled out new user-driven tagging functionality that will let you create custom galleries and searches based on your favorite tags. Uploaders can add tags to their own images, and users can vote on or suggest new tags. The tags will also double as filters, so that you can exclude certain types of images from a gallery. Meanwhile, Imgur has also updated its search function with new features. Now you can sort searches by title, tag, image size and image type. You can also search for the text in some images, such as memes. The…

Ever wanted to take a cycling tour of Berlin? Now you can without leaving your chair

cyclist
Cyclodeo, a mashup service that combines GPS technology, maps and a camera to create cycling videos, has extended its service to Berlin, allowing you to take a bike tour of the city without leaving your computer or standing up from your chair. While it might not bring the same cardiovascular benefits that an actual ride around the city would do, it does allow you to get a rider’s-eye view of what it’s like to cycle certain routes around the German capital. Or, if you’re a cyclist, you can create your own video of the city, but you’ll need to fill in…
