Apple confirms it acquired book data startup BookLamp earlier this year

Apple has confirmed that it acquired BookLamp, a startup that, among other things, developed book recommendation technology known as the ‘Book Genome Project’. As first reported by TechCrunch, the deal appears to have taken place earlier this year when BookLamp announced that it was shutting down to ‘evolve its mission.’ The Book Genome Project analysed deep data about the subject matter of books in order to recommend related titles. My friends and I were complete newbies about ropes and rappelling and every other bit of jargon and technique that goes with climbing. We saw others doing it spectacularly well.
