NYT: Google teams up with Barnes & Noble to offer same-day books delivery, competing with Amazon

Google is teaming up with Barnes & Noble to cross over into Amazon’s turf with the introduction of same-day books delivery, the New York Times reports. The agreement, which NYT says will be unveiled on Thursday, will give book buyers in Manhattan, West Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area the option of same-day deliveries from local Barnes & Noble stores via Google Shopping Express. China reportedly blocked chat apps Line and Kakao Talk over terrorism concerns

Trouble has been brewing in China since last month with several foreign internet firms experiencing accessibility issues in the country, including chat apps Line and Kakao Talk. Line’s service in Mainland China (provided in conjunction with a local operator under the name of Lianwo) has been plagued by a connection issue since July 1, while certain functions on Kakao Talk can’t be used. Amazon expands support for the companion app of its exclusive Fire TV game to Android tablets

Amazon has taken a surprisingly generous move by opening up support for its exclusive Fire TV game Sev Zero to Android devices other than its own Fire tablets, Android Police reports. The support comes in the form of a companion app called ‘Sev Zero: Air Support’ which allows for a two-player experience for the Amazon Game Studios’ Halo-esque Sev Zero on Fire TV.
