Barcelona Cabs Strike Against Uber Taxi App

Uber is aggressively expanding into the turf of taxi-booking apps in Asia. Today it announced the launch of ‘uberTAXI’ in Hong Kong (as spotted by Tech in Asia), which will connect customers with licensed taxis in the city. This comes just a few days after it launched the same service in Japan’s capital city, Tokyo. Uber’s taxi-booking service works in the same way that rival services Grabtaxi and Easy Taxi do in Asia. Flipboard will introduce video ads in September with Chanel as an initial partner

Social reading service Flipboard is the latest US social network to go down the route of video advertising, following the path of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (soon) and others. Speaking Read Write’s ReadWriteMix event, Flipboard founder and CEO Mike McCue announced that the company will introduce the ad format from next month. Fashion brand Chanel is confirmed as an initial advertiser, as former TNW reporter Ken Yeung and others at the event noted on Twitter. Video ads will be rolled out on Flipboard starting in September.
