English may have become the default lingua franca of many facets of the Web, but the fact remains that most people online speak a language other than English as their native tongue. For content producers, the myriad of different languages can be a headache, as it’s costly to reproduce words – spoken or written – for a multitude of markets. There are free or affordable tools available to circumvent the language barrier – Google has produced subtitling tools, for example, while third-party alternatives are available too. But what about voiceovers and dubbing? This is where VideoDubber is setting out its…

“A mouse took a walk through the deep, dark wood…” – if you’re a parent, you’ll know how the rest goes. Yes, The Gruffalo has been a perennially popular nighttime reading for kids for more than a decade, and has even spun out a sequel, a West End/Broadway play, and a short film. Now, the purple-prickled, knobbly-kneed ‘monster’ has an app too. Rapture. Big Daddies. Splicers. When 2K Games released BioShock in 2007, it captivated players with its decaying world, spine-tingling atmosphere and strong storytelling. Now, the game is available on iOS. As Polygon reports, the graphical fidelity has been lowered to accommodate various iPhone and iPad models. In addition, you’ll need to grapple with the new touchscreen controls – often an annoyance for first-person video games – or pair a Bluetooth controller to escape Rapture’s many dangers. Regardless, BioShock is a timeless, inspired video game that everyone should experience in one form or another. Once you’ve explored Rapture’s murky underbelly once, you’ll…

Samsung is again under-pressure over underage workers employed by its manufacturing partners in China. Barely a month after China Labor Watch uncovered underage workers at Shinyang Electronics, the same organization says that another supplier – HEG Electronics — has employed workers as young as 14 at its factories. HEG Electronics, which is based in Huizhou, Guangdong Province, and also works with Lenovo, counted more than 10 workers aged under 16 on its roster, according to a CLW report from earlier this summer.
