You asked for it, and now Quora has answered. The popular Q-and-A service today released an iPad app for all your browsing, asking and answering needs. “We think that this might be the best reading platform that we’ve made available to our users so far,” Quora Business and Community head Marc Bodnick said in an interview. Given that Quora content tends to be longer than most other social networks, it’s a wonder that the company hadn’t released an iPad app already. Along with today’s iPad app launch, Quora has given its service-wide rich-text editor a new look. Quora rolled out a redesign…

Servers Suck

Hey, did you notice that this page loaded in a few milliseconds instead of timing out? Me too!

I don’t know what caused that period of slow down because I don’t know much about servers. I know my CPU percentage has been higher lately. Here’s what it looks like over the last 30 days.

And over the last 24 hours.

Last night I created a support ticket with Digital Ocean. And today it miraculously works. It makes me suspicious, but I can’t imagine a business model where you throttle your customers until they call you on it. I mean except for the cable and cell phone industries.

So I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts. I’m also going to get in an Excel post today before I have more problems.

This Is My Jam is a refreshingly simple music site with a simple goal: To help music fans share the one song they’re currently obsessed with. Today, the service has been upgraded with two welcome additions: the ability to review a user’s jam history, and ‘song pages’. Picture the scene: You start following a user whose music tastes align with yours. But with only one jam to check out, you have to just sit and twiddle your thumbs while you wait for them to share something else. Now, you can select the “jams” link on the right-hand side to see…

Line is best known for its cross-platform messaging service, but the Japanese company also offers a bevy of connected apps and games for both Android and iOS devices. The latest addition is Toss, a mobile app that makes it easy to share groups of photos and videos with other Line users. Similar to Snapchat and casual messaging apps such as Taptalk, Bolt and Slingshot, the focus is on quick, effortless content sharing. Toss begins as a third-party gallery app with two distinct feeds for organizing your content. The first is by location; photos and videos are grouped by notable places,…

Amazon 4K video streaming is coming to Samsung TVs this October

From October, owners of a compatible Samsung television will be able to access Amazon’s Prime Instant Video streaming service in 4K. We knew Amazon was producing original content in 4K but not when we’d actually be able to lay our eyes on it. It was Samsung, not Amazon, that made the announcement, alongside news that users will also be able to access 4K streaming services from the likes of Netflix. ➤ Samsung press release [via Engadget] Thumbnail image credit: Getty Images
