Plane Finder is a popular app for tracking flights around the world in real-time. Want to know where the plane that just flew over you was heading? Plane Finder has you covered. However, an interesting feature has been introduced for version 7.3.0 (iPhone/iPad) – it now lets you replay historical flights, going all the way back to April 2011. While Plane Finder is generally reserved for serious plane geekery, it could actually be interesting to look at how major events such as hurricanes or volcanic ash clouds impacted flights as the planes moved (or not) around the world. Or, you…

From time-lapse videos to 360º photo spheres, we covered a lot of ground with new iOS apps in July. Here, we filter through the noise to present you with our selection of the best App Store newcomers from the past month. Photo Sphere Camera (Google) Google introduced a dedicated Photo Sphere Camera app to the iOS realm last month, letting users create 360º images and share them with anyone, while also letting them publish to Google Maps. Google’s existing camera app already brought photo spheres to Android users, so it’s nice to see it finally arrive for the iPhone fraternity too….

How to make a crowdfunding video that sells itself

FRANCE-CULTURE-CINEMA-DEMY

Johnathan Leow is the author of “The Crowdfunded Kit.”  I’ve had a lot of fun coming up with the video concept for my previous crowdfunding campaign, the PROTAG Duet. That video eventually went viral and received over 9,000 Facebook shares. But the greatest lesson learnt was that in order to make a video go viral, we must intentionally have the mindset to make one that sells by itself from Day One. OneDrive

Microsoft has started increasing OneDrive’s file size limit from 2GB to an unknown new maximum. The change was first spotted by Reddit user megaman821 and confirmed by multiple replies on the site. We got in touch with Microsoft to confirm the change. “As we mentioned on our uservoice, we have started the work to increase the file size limit for all OneDrive accounts,” a Microsoft spokesperson told TNW. “We have started the process with a small number of customers and will continue to roll it out to our full customer base. We will have more to share on this update…

Google has started sending out invites for an event in India in two weeks’ time which could see the launch of the company’s first ‘Android One’ certified devices. According to NDTV, the event will take place on September 15, but little else is known – not even which city it will be taking place in, let alone details of what is being launched. More details will be provided in due course, the invite says. Image credit: NDTV Despite a lack of any real hints, the invite is expected to be the launch event for Google’s first Android One devices from manufacturers like…
