If you enjoy your local Apple Store, you largely have former Apple executive Ron Johnson to thank for it. According to The Information, Johnson is looking to make a comeback with a new startup offering “a high-end, on-demand delivery service for gadgets.” Johnson oversaw the rise of Apple’s retail empire and then left to become CEO at department store JC Penney. He attempted to relaunch JC Penney with more stable pricing and a micro-shop strategy, but the company ousted him after a year and a half. Johnson’s latest idea, as outlined by The Information, sounds a lot like a combination of…

P9983

The thing about luxury smartphones – and if your phone says Porsche on it, it’s lodged pretty unarguably in the ‘luxury’ category – is that when you read reviews or opinions about them, it’s all a little far removed. I, nor (likely) you, am ever going to buy one of these phones. Take the once Nokia-owned Vertu handsets. They can cost tens of thousands of dollars, easily. Grooveshark and F6S, a community for startup founders, have announced a two-way partnership that will offer deals to their respective members. F6S members that sign up for Grooveshark will receive two free months of the music streaming service’s VIP subscription, which normally costs $9 per month. Users can head to grooveshark.com/redeem to enter the code they get from F6S. Meanwhile, Grooveshark members can also look forward to exclusive deals from F6S. Grooveshark has grown to 30 million active users, but its legal status still remains questionable. The service briefly launched Chromecast support last month, but Google shut down the feature within weeks, after receiving…

Microsoft today launched the Microsoft Online Services Bug Bounty Program, offering security researchers rewards for submitted vulnerabilities. The program encompasses the various Online Services provided by Microsoft, and bounties for qualified submissions start at a minimum payment of $500, with more offered depending on the impact of the vulnerability. Eligible submissions include vulnerabilities of the following types: Cross Site Scripting (XSS), Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF), unauthorized cross-tenant data tampering or access (for multi-tenant services), insecure direct object references, injection flaws, authentication flaws, server-side code execution, privilege escalation and significant security misconfiguration.
