iPhone 6

Apple teased a set of iPhone 6 commercials featuring Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake at the launch event for the new smartphones, and now the company has posted its first two ad spots online. The videos are interesting because they are among the first wave of messages that Apple is using to position these new devices as being attractive to consumers. Not to mention that they use two voices that will be recognized in households across America, and perhaps beyond too. With a record 10 million sales under its belt from the opening weekend of iPhone 6 sales, the company now needs to go…

Line, the mobile messaging app from Japan with 500 million registered users, is putting its public listing on hold after revealing that it won’t seek an IPO this year as previously planned. The decision was initially confirmed in a statement to the Wall Street Journal. It emerged in August that Line had filed paperwork in both the US and Japan, hinting that it could pursue a dual listing that analysts speculate would value it at around $10 billion. Line’s business model sees it offer its chat app for free, but monetize around games, virtual items like stickers and as a marketing platform…

Evernote updated the Mac version of its note-syncing application today. The update brings a plethora of new features to the application that you’ve been adding your grocery list to. In addition to improved syncing and larger checkboxes, the update brings the ability to dynamically resize images inline. Just grab the bottom right corner and drag to resize. It also now ships with an improved tables tool. Mac users will also notice that in-app search results are now ordered based on relevancy. Plus, you can now search within notes via OS X’s Spotlight feature. Helpful when you’re not quite sure where you…

Lyft is getting more aggressive with its multiple passenger ride-sharing service Lyft Line. Today the company announced it has acquired ride-sharing platform Hitch. Hitch is a San Francisco-based car service similar to Lyft and Uber that boasted it was half the price of both of those more established services. Lyft announced that the Hitch platform will close tomorrow and that current Hitch drivers are invited to join Lyft. Hitch customers will have to create a Lyft account if they don’t already have one. No user information will be transferred over in the acquisition. Lyft said that the acquisition would help with…

Adobe has announced plans to acquire Aviary, the maker of a photo editing SDK used by a number of third-party apps. Aviary has achieved over 100 million downloads during its history. Aviary will continue to support its SDK as part of Adobe’s Creative SDK. The company noted: While ensuring no interruption to Aviary’s developer community, or their apps’ users, we plan to add additional components and services for developers to incorporate – such as the ability to save creations to Creative Cloud in Adobe file formats, access Photoshop technology, and connect creativity across devices using the Creative SDK. ➤ Aviary,…
