Google Opens New Berlin Office

Google has responded to an open letter, written by News Corp for the European Commission, which criticises the company and claims its search engine is negatively impacting news organisations. In the original letter, News Corp chief executive Robert Thomson said Google was changing the way links are ranked and shown in its search results, which would “inevitably maximise income for Google” and “punish” small companies. Valve is slowly expanding Steam‘s functionality beyond buying and playing PC, Mac and Linux video games. Now, the company has launched a Steam Music Player which resides within the desktop client and makes it simple to play all of the tunes stored on your computer. While this in itself is useful, removing the need to constantly switch between applications, perhaps of greater note is the integration with Steam video game soundtracks. ACDSee has released a major upgrade to its Windows photo editing and management apps — ACDSee Pro 8 and ACDSee 18, the standard version. Together they target photographers ranging from amateur to pro.
