A blockchain startup hacked its users’ wallets to save $13 million in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency from being stolen, ZDNet reports. Security researchers advised the Komodo Platform of a ‘backdoor‘ in Agama, one of its older wallet apps, that would have allowed hackers to siphon any and all digital assets held inside. Before that could happen, devs made use of the the flaw themselves to extract at-risk cryptocurrency to wallets under their control. In total, Komodo’s team says it ‘saved’ 96 BTC ($742K) and 8 million Komodo ($11.92M) from potential theft. The controlled funds can be viewed here and here. Bad…

The Nokia 2.2 is a €99 Android One phone I’d buy my mum

HMD Global, the company licensing the iconic Nokia marque, today announced it’s latest entry-level handset, the Nokia 2.2, which will retail for €99 (about $110). The Nokia 2.2 is an interesting duck, as it doesn’t seem overtly compromised. Sure, it’s not exactly blazing fast, but its internals should be eminently able to handle the rigors of daily smartphone-using life. And, uniquely for a phone in its price bracket, it’s overtly emphasizing low-light photography, which is something phones in its price range traditionally suffer with. But before we get into that, here’s the specs: Quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 2GB or 3GB…

Yesterday, the National Coalition Against Censorship (NCAC) announced that Facebook will reconsider its nudity guidelines, which currently bans photographic nudity, and more controversially, “female nipples.” The news comes just days after activists stripped naked outside Facebook’s and Instagram’s New York headquarters to protest the platforms’ censorship regulations around artistic nudity. NCAC confirmed the social media giant had agreed to a meeting with a “group of stakeholders including artists, art educators, museum curators, activists, as well as Facebook employees.” During the meeting, which has no set date but is believed to happen some time this summer, they “will discuss the issue…

Developers: Meet your new AI intern

Remember when software was eating the world? The trendy observation these days is that artificial intelligence (AI) is eating software. Even Google CEO Sundar Pichai has talked about software that “automatically writes itself.” And certainly if you consider software development to be little more than the creation of oft-repeated segments of code, then the rapid advances in AI would give software engineers pause. Traditionally, developers have written software as a series of hard-coded rules: If X happens then do Y. The human instructs the machine, line by line. That’s Software 1.0. But Software 2.0 recognizes that — with advances in deep learning — we can build a…
