Google today announced new editing options for its Slides presentation service. You’ll now be able to adjust opacity, brightness, and contrast for an image, as well as change its color to match your theme. You can access the new editing features through the toolbar, format menu, and right-click menu. Google first added basic image editing to the service back in March. ➤ Edit and adjust images from right inside Google Slides [Google Drive]

“Ladies, you are going to become legends. You came into the shark tank, you had a deal… and you didn’t close it.” Photo courtesy of Surprise Ride One year after hearing those words from Kevin O’Leary, Donna Khalife isn’t licking her wounds. In November 2013, she and her sister/co-founder Rosy appeared on ABC’s Shark Tank. Their startup, Surprise Ride, had launched in beta mode earlier that year, founded on $5,000 of the sisters’ money. Of all the startups that appeared on their episode, Surprise Ride – a Birchbox for kids that sends thematic, hands-on activities through monthly mail subscriptions –…

The hope is that when someone the user is keen to work with looks at their profile page, they can deduce what they’ve done to trigger it. Replicating these actions might then lead to further valuable…

1006_plex1

If you’re looking for a home media server for all those DVDs and Blu-rays that you’ve ripped, there’s a good chance you’ve heard about Plex. Beginning tomorrow, Xbox One owners will finally get their own Plex client and be able to stream all their media directly to their HDTV. Tomorrow Plex will be available in the Xbox Live store for Plex Premium subscribers and will be available for Xbox 360 owners “very soon.” The Xbox client connects to your home Plex server (available for Mac, Windows, Linux and BSD) that streams videos, music and photos. There are already clients for…

split decision

Andrej Kiska is an Associate at Credo Ventures. In my last post on importance of employee equity, I set myself up for an ambitious task: to explain how employee equity works and how to set up a stock options plan in Europe. This topic is so complex and robust that it is almost impossible to pack all the relevant content into a single blog post.
