"Any artistic event that is subjectively judged in part by the accompanying music and style, is not a sport. Of course in the Winter Olympics, they overlook that due to the revenues Figure Skating and Ice Dancing generate from all those bored spouses who would otherwise not watch the Games at all." ~ Yasha Harari

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials on Monday said that one of its subcontractors had been breached in a “malicious cyberattack,” exposing images of travelers coming in and out of the country. Less than 100,000 people had their information compromised by the attack, according to a law enforcement official. The database, which comprised of photos of people’s faces and license plates, had been transferred to the subcontractor’s network without the federal agency’s authorization or knowledge, a CBP spokesperson told The Register. However, the stolen photo data didn’t include any identifying information, and no passport or other travel document photos…

Sony skipped gaming’s biggest event, E3, this year and Microsoft pounced. Xbox stormed the stage with a veritable bevvy of announcements. about new games and services, and a slew of details about its next generation console — dubbed Project Scarlett. It was a fantastic showing for what will surely be the next generation’s console war loser. I know it’s pretty gauche for fan-people to declare one system better than the other – especially considering none of us have played either unreleased console. Just to be clear though: I’m not a PlayStation fanboy, I’m an Xbox One-lover. But I can see the future of gaming,…

How to mute noisy conversations (and accounts) on Twitter, Gmail, Slack, and more!

David Pierce of The Wall Street Journal envisions a world without these distractions, one where apps exist in the background, waiting patiently for interactions that once demanded immediate attention. He…
