Why your workplace sucks at internal communication

Internal communication seem to be this mystical concept that means very different things to everyone. For a PR nerd, it is a silver bullet that helps you improve everything about a company. If you are an HR specialist, it is something that reduces the workload. And for management, it is often a tick in a checklist: something that needs to be done to look like a professional and a successful company. The thing is, they are all correct answers. Internal communication is a wide field that has the potential to solve many problems a company faces. And as it is…

Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan’s Twitter account allegedly hacked by Turkish group

Last night, a group of Turkish hackers took over Bollywood actor and Indian cultural icon Amitabh Bachchan‘s Twitter account, and posted tweets about the purportedly harsh treatment Turkish soccer players have faced at the hands of Iceland recently. Bachchan’s account has more than 37 million followers, more than Hilary Clinton’s Twitter followers. The group – which calls itself Ayyildiz Tim Turkish Cyber Armny (sic) – changed Bachchan‘s profile picture to a photo of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. It even changed the actor’s bio to “Love Pakistan” with an emoji of a Turkish flag. The hackers pinned a tweet saying…

What is a knowledge graph and how does one work?

Even though it probably affects our lives every single day, most of us have no idea what a “knowledge graph” is. Asking your favorite voice assistant what the weather will be like tomorrow? That’s thanks to a knowledge graph. But what exactly is a knowledge graph? Well, there’s actually some debate on what the best definition, but a recent research paper put it like this:   A knowledge graph acquires and integrates information into an ontology and applies a reasoner to derive new knowledge. In other words, a knowledge graph is a programmatic way to model a knowledge domain with…

Robots reviewed my resume and they were not impressed

According to my — not super scientific — calculations, LinkedIn users have a median average of 630 connections. But I only have 106. Unsurprisingly, I never cared much for maintaining LinkedIn profiles and resumes. I got my first freelance writing job when I was still in school, so I never really had to. So when I heard of a new AI-tool, developed by top recruiters to boost LinkedIn profiles and resumes, I was curious how it would improve my severely neglected CV. Startup Resume Worded is an AI-powered platform that provides ‘tailored feedback’ on your resume and LinkedIn profile. By…

Why Gary Vaynerchuck thinks privacy is dead and it’s a good thing

The answers to almost any question that pops into our head can be answered by simply “Googling it.” As a result of our insatiable desire for instant gratification, 90% of all internet searches are taking place through Google and its company subsidiary YouTube. Tech companies are increasingly acting as virtual gatekeepers that direct our future spending and can even reshape our opinions with the content they serve. Facebook fiercely denies being a media company despite that fact that around four-in-ten U.S. adults (43%) get their daily news from Facebook. There is an argument that there has never been a more…
