Digitally Imported

It’s been a good few years since we last caught up with Digitally Imported, a platform for electronic music fans that we called a sleeping giant of online radio. Available on the Web and through mobile apps, Digitally Imported streams north of 80 channels dedicated entirely to thumping beats, with the company tapping the collective wisdom of electronic music aficionados to curate its content. Today, the Denver, Colorado-based company has announced plans for what it’s calling the “first electronic music platform to fully integrate radio, on-demand and e-commerce.” Here’s the lowdown. When you think wearables, you don’t usually think international superstar or Salesforce. Push aside that old way of thinking aside because Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am just unveiled his Puls smartwatch at the Dreamforce conference in San Francisco. Pronounced “pulse,” the smartwatch is voice controlled via a Siri-like feature called Aneeda (get it? Aneeda. I need a…). It ships with Instagram, Facebook, Twitter (called Twitrist. get it? The watch will be released under the i.am+ brand and it took a team of 35 engineers two and…

broken piggy bank

Callum Laing is the CEO of Entrevo Asia and the founder of Fitness-Buffet, an employee fitness business in 11 countries. When you first start pitching your business idea to the world, there is no worse feeling than someone telling you they don’t think it will work. Since that is your deepest fear, when someone articulates it, as someone invariably will, it will rip to your very core. It happened a lot when I was starting out. To feel better, I would tell myself that they were idiots who just didn’t understand my industry as well as I did. Any success they…

The holidays are coming up and that means shopping for presents. If you’re a whitehat hacker looking to earn some cash, Facebook might be able to help you out. Facebook announced today that it will double the cash given to hackers that find bugs in the social network’s ad code. To help steer the whitehats to what they should be looking for, Facebook posted the following: At this stage of our bug bounty program, it’s uncommon for us to see many of the common web security bugs like XSS. What we see more often are things like missing or incorrect…
