BBC and Guardian: Google should consult us before removing story links under ‘right to be forgotten’

Representatives from the BBC and the Guardian today argued that Google should consult publishers before removing search links to stories requested under Europe’s ‘right to be forgotten.’ In a meeting with Google’s advisory council in London, which includes company chairman Eric Schmidt, both organisations suggested that the context a publisher could provide around removal requests would be beneficial. CBS cuts the cord with CBS All Access, a $5.99 per month streaming subscription

CBS just announced it’s bringing more of its programming online with a new service called CBS All Acesss, which will net you full current seasons of 15 primetime shows. These episodes will be available the day after they air, in addition to past seasons of eight of the shows. Swedish startup Truecaller has announced a partnership with Microsoft that will see its Live Caller ID feature arrive for Windows Phone users. Founded in 2009, Truecaller is a cross-platform call and contact management service, claiming more than 85 million users globally. It’s like an international crowdsourced telephone directory – everyone who registers with Truecaller can optionally open their contacts, including telephone number and name, to the community. These numbers are then made available to subsequent registrants, who can see the name of the caller regardless of whether they’re already saved to their own address book or not.
