At its iPad conference today, Apple announced that its new NFC-based mobile payment service, Apple Pay, would roll out on Monday, October 20. Apple says over 500 banks will support the service, and showed off dozens of retailers who’ve signed up as well, with more coming by the end of the year. Apple first introduced Apple Pay during its iPhone and Apple Watch event a little over a month ago. Supporting Mastercard, Visa, and American Express cards, the company hopes to make in-store cashless transactions easier and more secure. Mozilla has added a new feature to the most recent beta build of its Firefox browser that allows users to make video calls across the web without the need for any sort of additional software or plugin. Compass, the company that crowdsources data on startups’ growth, has today launched a new product aimed at helping investors, accelerators, incubators and consultants better track the health of companies they work with. Compass Monitor‘s launch coincides with the announcement of a new $2 million round of funding from ex-Thomson Reuters CEO Tom Glocer, NEA, Profounders and Crosslink. The new product allows users to track data about an entire portfolio of startups in real-time.
