reddit
Reddit has today announced the launch of a crowdfunding platform called Redditmade, where Reddit’s expansive community can raise funds for products and causes they are working on, or donate to other people’s campaigns. Like other crowdfunding platforms, users can offer a range of different things – from sticker packs to $100 headphones at the moment. Unlike other platforms, however, it seems to be more of a marketing channel for people running subreddits to sell merchandise, rather than exclusively being a place for people to raise funds products still in development or other causes. It’s early days though, and the platform is still only…

Code School Git lesson
Code School, the popular elearning site for developers of all skill levels, now has an iOS app that lets users watch over 300 instructional videos while on-the-move. Uber has announced that travellers can now use KLM’s website to book a car service, thereby making it easier to book your airport or onward travel. Announced today, the Uber travel planner on KLM’s website allows you to plot a route between any two locations (provided the distance isn’t too far) to get a price and estimated length of ride shown on screen. To promote the service, travellers who book a qualifying European KLM flight get €30 (~$38) towards their Uber rides. It’s worth noting that while the service isn’t restricted to KLM’s homeland in the Netherlands (you can book a car…

Calltag
If you’re tired of only reaching voicemail when you call certain contacts, Calltag might be just the app-sized answer you’ve been looking for. Available for Android and iOS smartphones, the beta Calltag app works like a third-party dialer and prompts you to first select a contact and then choose tags to indicate why you’re calling (with preset tags like #lunch, #urgent and so on). The app will first send an iMessage/SMS with those tags and your name to the recipient, and then proceed to make the call. This purportedly increases the chances of reaching your recipient on the phone. The demo video…
