Google Chromecast gets family-friendly multiplayer gaming

Google has announced that the Chromecast app line-up now includes multiplayer games. The first set of titles includes family-pleasing fare like Wheel of Fortune, Scrabble Blitz and Monopoly Dash. The Chromecast games are available from Google Play and the iOS App Store. You’ll be able to use Android and iOS phones and tablets as controllers with the game boards displayed on your TV. ➤ Google Chromecast apps [Google via TechCrunch]

At its Connected Home press event in New York City today, Quirky, in partnership with General Electric, announced a new line of smart home products engineered to help consumers save energy and boost home safety. Among the highlights is the Norm, the “death to the thermostat” which controls your home’s temperature by relying on the network of sensors around the house. For example, the Norm can recognize where users are in the home based on the motion or usage of smart products, and adjust the temperature to your desired levels. Amazon details first pilot season of 2015 with shows from Ridley Scott and Carlton Cuse

Amazon today unveiled the seven original shows that will be part of its lineup for its first pilot season of 2015 on Amazon Instant Video. The list consists of four hour-ong shows – Cocked, Mad Dogs, The Man in the High Castle and Point of Honor – as well as three half-hour shows – Down Dog, Salem Rogers and The New Yorker Presents. There are some pretty notable names involved this pilot season: Ridley Scott from Blade Runner  and Frank Spotnitz from the X-Files both worked on the Man in the High Castle, for instance. TweetDeck now lets you add multiple photos to your tweets

Following in the footsteps of Twitter.com and the associated mobile apps, Twitter is now lettings TweetDeck users add multiple photos to their tweets too. The feature was first noticed on the Web-based TweetDeck incarnation yesterday, but we can confirm that it is now available in the Windows desktop app and Chrome app too. Mac-users will be able to add more than one photo per tweet later too. This now means you can share more of your holiday snaps from TweetDeck at the same time.

As IBM’s Security Services 2014 Cyber Security Intelligence index points out, there were 1.5 million cyber attacks in the United States in 2013. Many of these security breaches resulted in—or will result in—material losses to consumers. Brands are taking a hit, too.
