Beep, the multi-room Sonos competitor, is now shipping with Spotify connectivity

Earlier this year, we covered Beep’s WiFi volume control that makes it easy to stream music to any speaker system, but the product was still six months out from being available. Today, Beep has announced that it’s shipping the first batch of Beep dials and that it’s opening up orders for a ‘small number’ of dials which will ship during December. The company also announced that it’s added Spotify Connect Integration, so that users with a Spotify Premium account can stream music directly to the device from the Spotify app. Spotify is the second music service to be integrated with Beep, behind Pandora.…

Google Docs now lets you merge table cells, adds image editing features

Google has been releasing a slew of updates for its Google Docs platform the last couple of months, and today it is introducing a few new features to make its software more powerful. First up, you can now merge cells, letting you customize tables to your specific needs (or make fancy mosaic art, if you’re bored). The company  also now lets you perform some new image edits on the fly: you can recolor photos or adjust their transparency, brightness and contrast right within the web apps. Huawei: “Nobody made any money with Windows Phone”

Huawei today restated it will not be producing any devices running Windows Phone, as it’s not profitable for the company. In a Seattle Times article, Joe Kelly, Huawei’s head of international media affairs said of the change that “we didn’t make any money in Windows Phone, nobody made any money in Windows Phone.” Huawei has previously released two Windows Phone handsets, but indicated in August that it was going to stop developing Windows Phones and work exclusively on Android for the time being. Mozilla releases Firefox 34, marking switch to Yahoo as default search engine

It’s the first of December which means Mozilla’s new partnership with Yahoo has gone into effect, so the company has released a new version of Firefox today. Firefox 34 brings a number of major features, such as an improved search bar, better theme switching, Firefox’s experimental ‘Hello’ chat client and the rollout of Yahoo as the default search engine for North America. When you update to the new version, Firefox will ask if you want to switch to Yahoo for your default search engine, however you can click ‘later’ to keep it as Google.
