Tim Cook takes aim at tech companies for creating ‘chaos’

Apple CEO Tim Cook once again took shots at Silicon Valley tech companies in his Stanford commencement speech on Sunday. Although he didn’t mention them by name, Cook warned that they need to take responsibility for the “chaos” they create as a result of their innovations. “It feels a bit crazy that anyone should have to say this, but if you built a chaos factory, you can’t dodge responsibility for the chaos,” Cook said. Speaking to a gathering of 30,000 attendees, including graduates, and their family and friends, Cook mounted a not-so-subtle attack against his rivals for failing to own…

Welcome to CHEAP, our series about things that are good, but most of all, cheap. CHEAP! ThinkGeek.com – arguably the leading online purveyor of nerd-based paraphernalia – is closing its doors. Well, sorta. It’s actually moving to its Gamespot’s website, its parent company. All-in-all then, it’s not a tragedy. Of course, this shift might upset people who have come to rely on the site for all their sweet stuff, but there is an upside: a fifty percent discount across the entire catalog of products. Yep, you heard that right – everything on ThinkGeek is half price. All you need to do…

US authorities have seized more than $200,000 worth of Bitcoin after arresting three Boston-based men on charges of conspiring to sell drugs on the dark web. Binh Thanh Le, 22, Steven McCall, 23, and Allante Pires, 22, were each charged with conspiring to make and distribute MDMA, Ketamine, and Xanax. Authorities also seized 20 kilograms of MDMA, more than seven kilograms of Ketamine, over 10,000 Xanax pills, and more than $100,000 in cash. The arrests were made after the execution of a search warrant at an office space where agents found and arrested McCall, who was wearing latex gloves and…

Report: Why you shouldn’t always trust the ‘Amazon’s Choice badge

If you see the ‘Amazon’s Choice’ badge on a listing on the ecommerce site, you might assume that it’s a quality and trustworthy product. However, a report by Buzzfeed News suggests that it might not be as trustworthy as it seems. The site reported a bunch of customers who bought items with the ‘Amazon’s Choice’ label received low-quality products.. Some of the products included in the report were a forehead-and-ear thermometer, high-security padlocks, and a whiskey flask. Apart from these, there are several people on Twitter, complaining about the quality products with the ‘Amazon’s Choice’ label. I got fooled on the internet.…

Bitcoin surpasses $9,000 setting another yearly record

Yet again, Bitcoin’s price is on the up, surpassing the $9,000 threshold for the first time this year. According to CoinMarketCap, the last time the market leading cryptocurrency stood at more than $9,000 was 13 months ago, in early May 2018. This isn’t the first time Bitcoin has set a new yearly price record. Back in May, the digital coin surpassed $8,000 for the first time since July 2018. As ever, it’s difficult to pinpoint exactly what is causing the cryptocurrency’s price to rise as it has over the past few months. But there’s plenty of speculation attempting to explain…
